Updates from CD .. from my daily open journel ... (Week 3 of BRT) (Part 2)

OK, i initially wanted to blog down word for word what i journeled ... but it's quitye pointless ... especially for week 3 ... and cos there are some things i didn't have a chance to write down and i rather not blog either ... *sigh* ...

26 Jan - Thursday

Just read through James Chapter 1 ... verses 2-4 didn't encourage me the same way nat said it encouraged him ... i guess it's cos some of the initial trials have passed ... but it still encourgaes me ... cos i'll possibly be assigned saturday guard duty and have to go get it changed to sunday ...

note: shortly after i felt verses 2-4 didn't apply to me much, i found myself claiming those promises ... ain't God wonderful?

the verses that really hit me were 26 & 27, mainly cos i kinda broke a promise to myself ... well .. i don't wanna elaborate on it here ... but yeah ... surrunded by this valguar culture .. it's hard to be in the world, but not of the world .. :S ... but... i can do all things in christ who strengthens me - phillipians 4:13 =)

Lord, i pray that you'll help me hold my tongue and keep it pure .. and also to follow James 1:19-21 and be patient with myself and others ...

let me also not doubt in you and have faith that you'll honor me if i honor you and give me the wisdom and knowledge to catch up on what i missed when i was on MC ... i pray that you'll heal me and help me to be well enough to go for cell and church ... =)

p.s. this week felt like last week .. simply cos i missed church ...

31 Jan - Tuesday

it's the second day of chinese new year ...well .. and it's book-in day too ... muster parade tomorrow ... lord, give me the strength to have a full recovery and stand through the muster parade .. =) ... thank you for all you've done for me and the family you've given me ...

spent saturday night at ah mah's house for a reunion dinner, then sunday's lunch at her house again ... lunch with relatives ... sunday morn (before lunch) was spent at Aunty Adeline's house ... and i met my 3rd degree(?) cousin .. haha ... ok ... err ... monday's (yesterday) lunch was at home .. had some church friends over ... yeah .. then went to another churhc member's home for dinner ... yeah ... today's lunch was at home again .. had the chow family over ... yeah ... the whole gang of em .. haha ... then went to Faith's home for games ... and i'm back ... getting ready to get cut off from civilisation again :S .. haha

Updates from CD .. from my daily open journel ... (Week 3 of BRT) (Part 1)

well .. it's part 1 cos there's still 3 more days of the weeek (including Saturday ...)

21st Jan - Saturday

woke up ... feeling very very tired, body aching everywhere, feeling cold, drenched in cold sweat, coughing out green gooey sticky viscous phlegm... eww ... anyway i think i was running a fever since last tursday ... well .. trust me to try and 'tahan' through and go for SOC whilst running a fever and not declaring .. :S

in short, i missed church, dad brought me to go see the chinese doc (the one i've gone to since i was a child) before zipping off to church ... slept the whole day off sleeping, eating bland food, taking salt supplements and eating medicine ...

22nd Jan - Sunday

woke up feeling somewhat the same as on saturday ... went to MT Alvernia Hospital to see the doc there and get a blood test ... the doc was quite certain it was some infection ... took a blood test and found my total white blood cell count to be 14.2 x 10^9 ... which is extremely high, meaning i do have an infection ... on the bright side, platelet count was normal. .. meaning i don't have dangue ... *yay* .. or rather .. more like *phew*, diagnosed as bronchitis, (?)chest infection. got 3 days MC .. meaning i don't have to book into camp tonight ... smsed some of my bunk mates to help me inform the platoon IC ... tried calling up the company office ... but no answer till 9.40pm when they called me ..

23rd Jan - Monday

was supposed to go down at 7.30 to submit my MC but i had an X-ray schedualed at 8am .. so i informed the NCOs the night before, last night 22nd jan, and went for the X-ray first ...

the X-ray showed my lungs are clear, heart is normal sized ... but the doc said eventhough the x-ray may not show, it's possible to have a few small infections around the lungs :S ... but most likey it's still a throat infection. i.e. the infection hasn't reached the lungs yet .. *phew* ..

MC extended till 25th Jan ... was told to report back to camp on the 26thJan at 7.30am .. :S

24th Jan - Tuesday

feeling a little better ... but the fever still comes along if i don't pop 2 panadols every 3-4 hours :S
fever for 6 days so far :S ... it's cos of the infection :S ... dang .. just makes me feel tired and week ... haiz ... it's horrible isn't it? ... so near CNY and i'm sick ... and i can't eat all those CNY goodies ... :S ...

25th Jan - Wednesday (today!)

last day of MC ... just packed my full-pack and polished my boots ... the smell of the polish made me cough more .. :S ... oh well ... at least the phlegm comes out ... gotta book in in less than 12 hours time ... dang .. i hope they'll let me see the MO stright away and get light duty .. i figure if i exercise in this state the infecton will simply get worse or spread, eventhough i'm on anti-biotics ... haiz ...

note: fever for 7 days so far ... still popping panadols ... infact i've run out of panadol ... gotta hunt for more :S

Updates from CD .. from my daily open journel ... (Week 2 of BRT)

15 Jan

5 more minutes before lights out ... well ... just booked in earlier and had a 1.2L water parade .. lots of questions asked to the Sir regarding ERS or FF course ... ran through mud and soiled my starched uniform and shiny polished boots cracked to =( oh well...

miss home again ... will miss my current bunk mates too.... lights out soon .. better pack my locker..

got dropped from ERS this morning .. yay! haha ... puked after morning PT too... got light duty for 3 days and realised i forgot my bible ... well at least i got my quarterly .. =) got 20 mins till knot tying .. wish me all the best =)

light duty pretty much sucks .. although not needing to do morning PT is nice, we can't join the platoon for SOC or other physically intensive things ...

One of our Cpls just told us to standby in lesson attire for fire-drill practise .. (choing from bunk to parade square and fall in within 1 minute) and then another walks by and says to fall in at 10.50 :S oh well ... polish boots ...

gotta fall in for knots lesson again in about 10 minutes ... shoulder hurts from the tripple extension ladder training ... ouch ...

got updates from Andrew regarding his ERS, sounds like he'll be back in BRTC tomorrow ... the platoon next door is having a fire drill ... haha .. it's kinda funny to think of a fire in CDAC ...

everyone was pretty hyped up by the curry puffs we were given for the night-snack ... but they taste horrible (according to my bunk mates) and have sardine in em .. so i didn't have any ... tomorrow my last day of light duty ... ... all the best to thursday and friday ... tomorrow (wed) shouldn't be too tough ...

oh yeah ... this afternoon's swimming lesson ended up with us running in the rain to the pool, changing to swimming trunks, falling in, then changing back to PT attire and running back to the bunk through the rain ... so much for swimming ...

19 Jan

Last day of light-duty ... my team won the portable lighting unit competition ... which consisted of 4 people carrying the unit to the four corners of the training shed then planting it in the middle, setting it up and starting the engine ... we managed a whopping 1minute and 30seconds ... the second place was 2 minutes + .. haha ...

20 Jan

just finished PT and breakfast ... tired ... sleep last night felt like 2 seconds ... still sick .. but no more light-duty endurance training next .. .wish me luck .. gotta clean the bunk now ...

had the first asthma attack of my life during ET ... it sucked ..

OK .. i doubt it was asthma .. more possibly hyper ventilation ... downed 10+ bottles so far ... been sweating like crazy ... and had a terrible migrane the whole day ... popped 2 panadols and well .. the pain is gone .. but my head is a blank sheet ...couldn't think clearly & screwed up my marching .. darn ...

water parade in 15mins ... wanted to shower, but all the showers are full ... sigh ... shower after water parade then =( ... not sure if i should report sick tomorrow ... after hyper ventalating & feeling weak & being unable to march in-sync today ... i wanna miss morning PT but go for SOC ... damn ..

God .. please tell me what to do..

21 Jan

managed to get 'light-duty' for morning PT cos i reported not feeling well to my CPL the night before ... then went for SOC later ... damn .. didn't know the PTIs make us do exercises before the SOC ... did he basic 5BX and 80 sets of jumping jacks ... (i.e. 160 jumping jacks) before doing the SOC ... got light headed with a headache after the SOC again ... darn .. think i was running a fever ...

fortunately the day was pretty slack after that ... but got pumped by our SGT cos we reported late for our lesson (which was right after SOC ...) sigh ...

had a few false alarms for room inspection ... and found out we were being 'sabo-ed by the PTP guys ... cos they kept screwing up our toilets ... bunk IC kenna weekend guard duty .. (not sure why ...) sadness ... ....

22 Jan (sat)

woke up running a fever of 38.3 .. .which went up to 38.7 ... saw the chinese doc ... and slept the day away .. cos i was so tired ... still am very tired ... but gotta finish this update ... yeah ... been sweating like crazy ... and changing shirts like crazy too ... anyways i think thats the end of this update ... maybe i'll go see the MO on monday and see if i can get more light duty .. otherwise i will never recover ...

updates from CD .. from my daily open journel ...

Day 1 - 11th Jan

didn't really learn alot today ... lost my hair ... the food's pretty good comparing it to what the previous intakes used to eat... still very very new to regiment discipline and suddenly living with 14 other guys ... from different backgrounds ... being around a mix of people from other JCs, Polys and ITEs ... the feeling is just ... strange ...

anyways we basically learnt how to fold our 'Smart 4' unisorm ... and tie our boots ... =P ...

miss home ALOT ... and submitted my SANSO letter to the inchek and NCO ... called home to let my family know i'm ok too ...

Day 2 - 12th Jan

Just finished getting ready to fall in for morning water parade at 5.15 then PT .. well ... so far so good ... gonna to my morning QT now ..

had free time since 6.30pm ... got another tetanus jab today and aweful tasting polio immunisation ... not much else happened ... other than talks .. talks ... talks ... talks ... *snore*

day 3 - 13th Jan [BOOK-OUT DAY!]
Just woke up and paryed a few minute sago ... some dude set his alarm to 4.00am in stead of 4.30 am today ... -.- ... it rang till 4.20+ when he finally turned it off .. then at 4.30 all the other alarms went off .. -.-"

well ... got foot drill training today then book out in the evening!

just finished lunch and saw the muslim guys leave for their friday prayers ... waiting for them to return ...

strangely... Andrew, Tat and myself (all the adventist recruits at the moment) were selected for ERS, emergency response squad, which would make us Sergent Firemen in 6 months ... (if we pass) but that would also mean that we wouldn't be able to keep our Sabbaths ... spoke to Andrew about it .. then went to look for my OC, couldn't find him, so i went to see my PC instead ... gave him another copy of the SANSO letter and he said he feels i shouldn't give up my ERS so easily ... (well .. but really .. i don't want it ..) the NCO called someone .. regarding my Sabbath issues, but the officer he called wasn't around .. so he told me to return to my bunk and he'll keep me updated ...

called christon and lionel regarding ERS before i went to see the PC too ... hope it all works out ...

well ... time really really flies ... in about 8 hours time i'll be drafted into National service ... yeah ..

so i guess you won't be hearing from me for a while ... yeah ..

just got back from Marche ... haha .. had dinner there with some church friends who had gone throug hNS or are still serving NS .. so yeah .. hope it'll be fun =P ...

currently feeling a little nervous about NS ... yeah .. but well .. it happens =/ so wish me luck and hope everything goes fine for me .. =)
